Bilastine is onetype of antihistamine medication used to treat hives (urticaria), allergic rhinitis and itchyinflamed eyes (allergic conjunctivitis) caused by an allergy. It is asecond-generation antihistamine and takes effect by selectively inhibiting thehistamine H₁ receptor, preventing these allergic reactions.

APPLICATIONSOF BILASTINE:Bilastine is an antihistaminemedicine used widely to relieve allergicsymptoms like runny nose, sneezing, redness of the nose, watery eyes, itching,and rash. It stops the action of a naturalsubstance called histamine produced in your body during an allergic reaction.

HOWTO USE: 20 mg bilastine (1tablet) once daily for the relief of symptoms of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis(SAR and PAR) and urticaria. The tablet should be taken one hour before or two hours after intake of foodor fruit juice.

HOWBILASTINE WORKS: It works byblocking the effects of a chemical messenger known as 'histamine', which isnaturally involved in allergic reactions. Inshort, it helps to relieve the discomfort and unpleasant symptoms that occurreddue to allergic conditions, like blocked/runny/itchy nose, red/watery eyes, andskin rashes.

CONTRAINDICATIONSOF BILASTINE: Bilastine is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the activesubstance bilastine or to any of the excipients.Special warnings and precautions: Efficacy and safety of bilastine in childrenunder 12 years of age have not been established.

PHARMACOKINETICSOF BILASTINE: Bilastine has linearpharmacokinetics in the 2.5–220 mg dose range in healthy adult subjects withoutevidence of accumulation after 14 days of treatment.

SIDE EFFECTS OF BILASTINE: In some cases, youmay experience abdominal pain,headache, dizziness, dry mouth, sore throat, nausea, cold-like nose symptoms(in children), or diarrhea (in children). Mostof these side effects of BILASTINE do not require medical attention andgradually resolve over time.

PRECAUTIONS: Before starting to use bilastine,talk to your pharmacist if you are suffering from moderate or severe kidneyfailure or if you are also taking other medicines. You should not take bilastine if you are allergicto bilastine or to any other component of this medicine.
