STORAGE OF ERYTHROMYCIN: Store in cool and dry place, keep away from direct light and heat. Do not put medication in humid place like bathroom or kitchen. Keep away from pets.

HOW TO USE: Erythromycin normally taken orally with or without food. If you feel nausea or vomiting take medicine with food of milk. Erythromycin has bitter taste so do not chew or crush tablet. Take your doctors advice if you have any confusion.

HOW ERYTHROMYCIN WORKS: Erythromycin works as an anti-bacterial agent. Erythromycin prevents the bacteria linfections by killing the bacteria and also prevents the further growth of bacteria. Erythromycin also use in the treatment of respiratory, stomach or intestinal infection by inhibiting the bacterial growth.

PHARMACOKINETICS: Erythromycin binds with 23s ribosomal RNA and by this v inhibits the protein synthesis which is required for bacteria to build their cell wall, by inhibiting the protein synthesis bacteria will unable to grow cell wall and by this process the bacterial growth can be inhibited. Erythromycin rapidly absorbed in the body after oral administration. Erythromycin takes 1.2 hours to reach the peak plasma concentration. Erythromycin binds with almost 80-90% of plasma proteins. The half-life of the medication is 2.4-3.1 hrs. And Erythromycin eliminated by bile.

SIDE EFFECTS: The common side effects of Erythromycin are nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach/abdominal pain, cramping is seen in the patients. Take medical attention if you see some side effects like dark urine, yellow eyes, stomach pain, liver disease, muscle weakness, tiredness,blurred vision, problem in speaking. Erythromycin also causes some intestinal problems like abdominal pain, blood or mucus in your stool, cramping in intestines.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Erythromycin. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medication, and also about your past medical history like if you have liver, kidney or heart related problem. Erythromycin effects on the heart so if you see symptoms like slow/irregular heartbeats, problem in breathing or chest pain take immediate medical attention.
