HOW TO USE: Iron sucrose given by theinjection. Iron sucrose is given by I.V. route. Normally it is given slowly for2-5 minutes. It is also mixed with saline solution and given for longer time.The dose of the medicine depends on age, disease condition and treatmentresponse.
HOW IRON SUCROSE WORKS: After the I.V. administrationIron sucrose dissolves in to the blood stream and iron and sucrose willdissociate in blood. The iron will binds with the haemoglobin as cell maturesin red blood cells.
PHARMACOKINETICS OF IRON SUCROSE: Iron sucrose will absorbed inbody and reach the high serum levels after the I.V. administration. Ironsucrose only takes 10 minutes to reach the peak plasma concentration. Ironsucrose binds with transferring protein. The half-life of the Iron sucrose is 6hours. Less than 5% of Iron sucrose is eliminated from the body; the excretionof Iron sucrose is done by renal rout.
SIDE EFFECTS: The normal side effects of Ironsucrose are nausea, vomiting, muscle cramp, headache, joint pain, back pain,cough, constipation, swelling of legs and arms are normally seen in thepatients. Fainting and dizziness also seen some time after giving the dose. Seedoctor right away if you see side effects like chest pain, irregular heartbeat,pressure in chest, blurred vision or problem in breathing.
